Your kids may not be headed to school for classroom learning these days, but COAST and SBBIKE still invite you all to celebrate International Walk to School Day (IW2SD) this Wednesday, October 7th! It’s normally a day to walk, bike, skate or scoot to and from school, a benefit for kids’ and the planet’s health. This year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, IW2SD is STILL a great day for kids and families to get outside and walk, ride or roll in their neighborhoods. Take a stroll around the block, explore your neighborhood and others, or walk or ride together to your school for lunch pickup! COAST reminds everyone to stay in small household groups, keeping safe social distance with face coverings ready and to always wear properly-fitted helmets when rolling!
Up for a neighborhood exploration challenge? Check out the Family Walk & Roll Scavenger Hunt! See if you can find all 36 items in your neighborhood, on foot or on wheels. Compare your findings with friends in their neighborhoods. And for more family neighborhood fun, visit our Family Walk &Roll website to follow the short, medium or long Neighborhood Routes near you using our online maps and street arrows. Set up ongoing neighborhood family group rides for close-to-home healthy action!
