We are making great strides towards the realization of a walking path on San Ysidro Road. Many residents have shown their enthusiasm for the project by writing letters of support to Public Works and Supervisor Carbajal. Additionally, Public Works as almost completed the preliminary study of the feasibility and requirements for the path.
The support of a walking path has prompted pedestrian safety awareness and traffic reduction measures elsewhere. The Montecito Union School (MUS) has approved a trial school bus system for the upcoming school year and a carpool plan is in the works. With all these wonderful ideas, parents will have several alternatives to driving when getting thier children to school this fall.
Updates will continue to be posted and COAST’s Montecito Safe Routes program will have a table at MUS’s Back to School Day to answer questions and provide parents and educators with materials and information.
